Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong Meets with Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the HKSAR Government Erick Tsang Kwok-wai

On May 13, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, who led a delegation of HKSAR government officials to visit the mainland for exchanges.

Chen Xiaodong said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attaches great importance to diplomatic work related to Hong Kong and will continue to firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, resolutely oppose external interference in Hong Kong's affairs, actively support the SAR in expanding its foreign exchanges and cooperation, and better tell Hong Kong's stories to the international community, so as to create a more favorable external environment for the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and the steady and sustained development of "One Country, Two Systems".

Erick Tsang Kwok-wai thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the strong support it has been giving to the SAR in foreign exchanges, consular protection and other aspects, and expressed the hope that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support and guide the SAR government in handling Hong Kong's foreign-related affairs.
