On November 2nd, 2005, the Chinese Embassy in Ghana held a reception in honour of Ghana-China Parliamentary Friendship Association (GCPFA).

On behalf of H. E. Amb. Zhang Keyuan, Mr. Wang Jinghua, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China extended warm welcome to the guests, observing that GCPFA was playing an increasingly important part in promoting the mutual understanding and friendship between the governments and peoples of the two countries. He introduced the developing track of Chinese economy since its reform and opening up. Talking about the great achievements that China has made, the Charge d'Affaires pointed out: "Though China has achieved a great deal, it still faces daunting challenges such as huge population, weak economic basis, uneven development, and heavy environmental pressure and relatively low living standards of its people." When talking about the cooperation between China and African countries, the Charge d'Affaires stated: "To intensify dialogue and cooperation with African countries, China, in collaboration with Africa, launched the China-Africa Cooperation Forum in 2000. Within this framework, China-Ghana cooperation has also made good progress. The Chinese Embassy will continue to work with Ghanaian friends from all walks of life to forge a stronger and ever growing bond of friendship between our two countries and two peoples."

Hon. Kwame Owusu Frimpong, the chairperson of GCPFA gave a brief address on behalf of all the members of GCPFA. He introduced the development and position of GCPFA, which has grown from a 25-member Interest Group on China to a strong association with a membership of nearly one third of the House in just 3 years. When he recalled the GCPFA delegation's China tour last August, he commended the huge success that China has made in all fields. He said that the visit not only made him and his colleagues to know a real China, but also contributed to a better understanding and friendship between the two countries. Hon. Kwabena Adusa Okerchiri, the chairman of Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee and other GCPFA members also spoke and gave warm plaudits to the development of friendly relation between the two countries and the achievements that China has made.
