In a message to Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Chinese President Hu Jintao expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the bombing attacks and sympathy to those injured.

Hu said China is strongly opposed to terrorism of all kinds and supports the Turkish government in the fight against terrorism.

The president said China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the international community so as to maintain peace and stability in the world.

In his message to British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing extended his condolences and sympathy to the families of the British victims in the bomb attacks.

Li said China is willing to continue working with the international community in fighting terrorism and make contribution to the world peace and security.

Two powerful explosions wrecked the British consulate and the Turkish headquarters of Britain's HSBC Bank in Istanbul, killing at least 27 people and injuring about 450 others. Among the dead was British Consul General Roger Short.
