Prime Minister G.P. Koirala Expresses Congratulations on the Occasion of the Olympic Torch being successfully carried to the top of the Mt. Qumolongmo

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Zheng Xianglin called on Rt. Hon. Mr. G.P. Koirala, Prime Minister of Nepal on May 8, 2008 and expressed thanks  for the great support and assistance extended by Rt. Hon. Prime Minister G.P. Koirala and the Nepalese Government, Nepal Army and concerned authorities, as well as detailed arrangements and enormous work, which the Nepalese side has made in order to ensure the Olympic Torch to reach the top of Mt. Everest safely.

Prime Minister Koirala expressed warm congratulations that the Olympic Torch has been successfully carried to the top of the Qumolongmo, and also requested Chinese Ambassador to forward a congratulatory letter to Chinese President H.E. Hu Jintao. "On behalf of the Government and People of Nepal and on my own, I have great pleasure to extend my warm and hearty congratulations to you and to the People and Government of the People's Republic of China on the happy occasion of the Olympic Flame being successfully carried to the summit of the Sagarmatha (Qumolongmo), today", said Prime Minister Koirala in the letter.

Prime Minister Koirala further said, "the Olympic Games have always been the symbol of peace, understanding and solidarity, through the display of fine sportsmanship by the most competent athletes of the world".

Prime Minister Koirala also wished for the grand success of the Beijing Summer Olympic Games 2008.
