Liu Yandong Meets with African Union Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma

On November 25 , 2013, local time, Chinese Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Yandong met with the African Union (AU) Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma at the AU Conference Center in Addis Ababa.

Liu Yandong said that the AU is playing an increasingly important role in both the internal and external affairs of Africa, and has become a banner for seeking strength from unity and achieving rejuvenation through development. China attaches great importance to developing relations with the AU. Under new circumstances, new and important opportunities are facing the development of the China-AU relations. The two sides should maintain close contact and deepen practical cooperation in infrastructure construction, human resource development, health, technology, women's development and other fields. The two sides should strengthen their cooperation in the fields of peace and security, and coordination and cooperation in international affairs so as to safeguard the common interests of the developing countries.

Liu Yandong introduced the relevant situation of the third Plenary Session of 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and noted that China will comprehensively and systematically push forward the reform, which will bring greater opportunities to China-Africa cooperation.

Zuma appreciated China's support and assistance to the cause of peace and development of the AU and Africa, and expressed that Africa is ready to learn from China's successful experience to achieve peace, development and unity in Africa. Africa expects to consistently expand and deepen cooperation with China in all areas.
