On June 23, 2005, Chinese Ambassador Wu Hongbo visited the headquarters of the Philippine Star at the invitation of its publisher Maximo Soliven.

Amb. Wu was welcomed by Mr. Soliven, President and CEO of PhiliSTAR Daily Miguel Belmonte, President and CEO of Stargate Media Corp Jose Maneul Romualdez, news editor Marichu Villanueva and Starweek editor Doreen Yu and others.

Amb. Wu expressed his appreciation for Starweek's special report about his comments on China-Philippine relations and the special supplement on the Star Daily to mark the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between China and the Philippines. Amb.Wu and his hosts had very pleasant and interesting talks.

Mr. Soliven briefed Amb. Wu about the history and business operation of the newspaper. He also accompanied Wu to tour the editors' room and printing house.
