| Ambassador Li Jinjun Presents his Credentials to Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo |

| On 1 December, 2005, H.E. Li Jinjun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of the Philippines presented his credentials to H.E. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, President of the Republic of the Philippines. Honorable Alberto Romulo, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines and Chinese embassy officials were also present. After presenting his credentials, Ambassador Li had amicable talks with President Arroyo on China- Philippines relations.
Ambassador Li first extended cordial greetings to President Arroyo on behalf of Chinese President Hu Jintao. President Arroyo expressed her appreciation of the greetings and asked Ambassador Li to convey her warm greetings and best wishes to President Hu Jintao. Ambassador Li said China and the Philippines, as close neighbors separated only by a narrow strip of water, enjoy a long history of friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago, bilateral relations and cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas have scored remarkable achievements. Both leaders of the two countries have agreed to forge strategic cooperative relations for peace and development. Ambassador Li pledged to make the utmost efforts and push the friendly comprehensive cooperative bilateral relations to a new height. Ambassador Li also congratulated President Arroyo on the successful convening of the 23rd Southeast Asia Games and the remarkable achievements of the Philippine athletes.
President Arroyo warmly welcomed Ambassador Li and completely agreed with his positive assessment on the China-Philippines relations. President Arroyo stressed that the two countries have entered a golden age of partnership, the Philippine side would like to work with the Chinese side to further promote mutually beneficial cooperation. President Arroyo reiterated that the Philippine government would stick to one China policy. President Arroyo also expressed her appreciation of the Chinese assistance in the training of Philippine athletes.
Before presenting the credentials, Ambassador Li inspected the guard of honor in Malacanang. After presenting the credentials, Ambassador Li laid a wreath at the Rizal Monument. |
