Consul General Pan Xinchun Meets Martin McDermott, First Secretary for Scottish Affairs at the UK Embassy in Beijing

On 10 February, Chinese Consul General Pan Xinchun met Martin McDermott, First Secretary for Scottish Affairs at the UK Embassy in Beijing. They had an in-depth exchange of views on relationship between China and Scotland.

Consul General Pan congratulated Martin on his new post and briefed him on the achievements of fruitful co-operations between China and Scotland in fields of high-level exchanges, trade and investment, culture, education, tourism, confident that he will endeavor to further promote China-Scottish friendship after taking the post in Beijing and wished him every success in work.

Martin said he is honored to take this important post at a time when Scotland and China relations have been developing rapidly. He attended lots of Chinese New Year celebrations recently in Scotland and witnessed the deep friendship between the two peoples. He said that he will build on what his predecessors have achieved and make new contributions to the development of Sino-Scottish ties.
