The Chinese government has reported its 2007 military expenditures to the United Nations (UN). It is the second report of its kind that China has submitted to the UN since it jointed the UN Military Budget Transparency Mechanism last year. In addition to the basic data of China’s military spending in 2007, the report also explained the main purpose of the expenditures, providing more information than that submitted the previous year. It shows once again that the Chinese government attaches great importance to military transparency and is committed to increasing mutual trust with other countries in the military field.
