On February 22, 2004, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with Mr. Ichiro Aisawa, visiting Japanese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs who was here to attend the Workshop on Sino-Japanese Economic Relations in the 21st Century. The two sides exchanged views on further promoting Sino-Japanese friendly cooperation and well organizing the second round of six-party talks on Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.

Mr. Aisawa said that the Japanese government strictly abides by the principles prescribed in Sino-Japanese Joint Statement and the "one-China" policy and that it will continue to adhere to this policy in the future.
