Premier Zhu Rongji Met with Kenyan Parliament Speaker

On the afternoon of April 24, 2002, Premier Zhu Rongji met with Kenyan National Assembly Speaker Francis Ole Kaparo at Kenya's parliamentary building.
Zhu first conveyed cordial greetings from Chairman Li Peng to Kaparo. Zhu said that China and Kenya have maintained friendly relations for a long time and have had excellent cooperation in many fields since the establishment of diplomatic ties 39 years ago. The mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples have also been further deepened. Bilateral unity and cooperation in such fields as politics, economy and trade, culture and education, has become closer and more fruitful. The two countries have also maintained good consultation and cooperation in the international arena. The contacts between the parliaments of China and Kenya have become an important part of the friendly bilateral cooperative relations. The exchanges and cooperation between the two legislative bodies have made positive contributions to the traditional friendship between China and Kenya. The Chinese government and people attach great importance to the relations with Kenya, and are willing to make joint efforts with the Kenyan side to further strengthen and develop the bilateral cooperation in all fields. He had a very good meeting with President Daniel arap Moi that morning and the two sides signed several agreements. China will continue to provide assistance within its own capacity to Kenya in the country's infrastructure construction. Kaparo said that relations between Kenya and China are very good. Kenya is very grateful to China for its help in many of Kenya's projects. The two parliaments are good cooperation partners as well. The Kenyan National Assembly hopes that the two legislatures will further strengthen cooperation and increase exchanges to jointly enhance the development of bilateral ties. Kaparo asked Zhu to return his greetings to Chairman Li Peng.
