Premier Zhu Rongji Met With Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand

On September 22, 2002, Premier Zhu Rongji met with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand in Copenhagen.

Zhu said that China and Thailand are friendly and close neighbors and leaders of the two countries have kept close contacts, which have pushed forward bilateral relations. He said that the two countries have been expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields with remarkable results and good cooperation and coordination in promoting China's relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and cooperation in Asia. He hopes that the mechanism for Asian cooperation dialogue proposed by Thailand will make progress.

Thaksin said that Thailand treasures its relations with China and appreciates China's support for the mechanism. He noted that Thailand will make efforts to push forward the economic and trade cooperation between the ASEAN and China.

He reiterated that Thailand will continue to abide by the One China policy, which was appreciated by Zhu.
