China Exchanged Notes with Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar on Preferential Tariff Treatment

On November 3, 2002, during Premier Zhu Rongji's visit to Cambodia, Minister of Trade and Economic Cooperation Shi Guangsheng, Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Prasidh, Laotian Vice-Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Somsavat Lengsavad and Myanmar Minister of the State Peace and Development Chairman's Office David Abel signed, on behalf of their respective governments, an exchange of notes on the Chinese government's provision of preferential tariff treatment to the Cambodian, Laotian and Myanmar governments. Under the document, China will levy zero tariffs on some products exported to China by Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar starting on Jan.1, 2004.
