The Adoption of the Anti-Secession Law by China's National People's Congress is Widely Supported in Burundi

On March 15, 2005, Minister of External Relations and Cooperation of Burundi Terence Sinunguruza indicated to Chinese Ambassador to Burundi Feng Zhijun that the government and people of Burundi understand and support the adoption of the Anti-Secession Law by China's National People's Congress. The legislation fully demonstrates the utmost sincerity and wisdom of the Chinese leaders and people on the peaceful resolution of the Taiwan question. Burundi will issue a public statement through a cabinet meeting to reiterate Burundi's one-China stance on the Taiwan question and to support China's Anti-Secession Law. Secretary General of the Burundi National Assembly, on behalf of the Speaker, indicated the National Assembly fully supports China's National People's Congress to contain separatist forces in Taiwan through legislative means, appreciated the efforts made by the Chinese government and people for the peaceful reunification of the country. Burundi supports China to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity and opposes any action attempting to split the country. The National TV Station also invited Ambassador Feng to deliver a speech and major media covered the story in a positive manner.
