On March 17, 2005, the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, through its Embassy in China, sent a note to the Chinese side, extending support for the Anti-Secession Law passed by the National People's Congress of China.

The note indicates that the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria welcomes and supports the Anti-Secession Law enacted by the National People's Congress of China and the Nigerian government reiterates its adherence to the one-China policy and supports China's efforts to realize national reunification.
