On December 27, President Hu Jintao, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, sent a message of condolence to H.E. Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar, expressing sincere condolence on casualties and property loss caused by the tsunami disaster in Myanmar and deep sympathy to the victims. Hu noted that he believes the Myanmar government and people will surely defeat the disaster, overcome the difficulties and resume normal production and social order in the disaster-hit areas as soon as possible.
