A number of groceries and schools established among the makeshift shelters have put into operation. The government also announced that it would provide 12,000 houses for the victims before May this year. In addition to tents, 46,000 plus pieces of galvanized steel sheet have been delivered to the disaster-affected areas to make interim shelters for the victims. At present the normal life of local people are being gradually restored. The fishermen in two regions of Tamil Nadu state have restarted fishing and those of other disaster-hit areas are also gradually resuming fishing.
