Bulletin Report on the Tsunami Disaster in Sri Lanka (III)

As of January 5, 2005, the death toll from the tsunami disaster in Sri Lanka has reached 30,229, with 15,683 injured, 3,858 missing and 835,028 coming from 212,319 households homeless. 88,022 houses have been totally destroyed by tsunamis and 25,731 houses partially damaged.

Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Kadirgamar has left for Indonesia to attend the Special ASEAN Leader's Meeting on the Aftermath of Earthquake and Tsunami to be held January 6. Following the meeting UN Secretary-General Annan and delegates of a number of countries will go to Sri Lanka to have a firsthand look at the damage.
