According to Indian official statistics, as of 6:00 pm, January 5, 2005, the death toll from the tsunami disaster in India has reached 9,675 with 6,107 missing. From January 5 to 6, 10 aftershocks of 5 to 7 Richter scale occurred on Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Since the outbreak of tsunami the Islands have suffered 104 aftershocks above 5 Richter scale. Up to now about 630,000 people have been evacuated to safe places. The tsunami also shattered about 160 kilometers of national roads and 520 kilometers of state roads.
