Wen Jiabao Meets with Slovak National Assembly Speaker Hrusovsky

On December 8, 2005, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Councilor met with Slovak National Assembly Speaker Hrusovsky in Bratislava. Wen expressed positive comments to Hrusovsky on bilateral relations and expounded propositions on strengthening political dialogue and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. He indicated that in the development process of bilateral relations, the exchanges between the two legislatures have played an important role in consolidating and promoting bilateral friendly cooperative relations. The National People's Congress (NPC) of China would like to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Slovak National Assembly between their special committees and parliament members' groups of friendship and expects that both sides will learn from each other in the areas of law enforcement supervision, environmental protection and economic legislation. Hrusovsky said that bilateral exchanges in various areas including those between parliaments are dynamic and bilateral relations enjoy sound prospect. To develop relations with China is very important to Slovakia and the Slovak National Assembly would like to continue efforts to build up understanding between both peoples and promote friendly cooperation.
