Li Zhaoxing Meets with US Deputy Secretary of State Zoellick

On August 2, 2005, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met in the building of the Foreign Ministry with US Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick who came to China to attend the first China-US strategic dialogue.

Li said that to launch the China-US strategic dialogue is an important consensus reached between the two heads of state during their meeting in San Diego, Chile last year. With the joint efforts of both sides, the first round of strategic dialogue is held successfully, which marks a new level of the dialogue and cooperation between China and the US and helps build mutual trust, expand consensus and promote the healthy and stable progress of the constructive partnership between the two countries in the new century.

Zoellick fully recognized the first China-US strategic dialogue and noted that the dialogue has helped build up mutual understanding between China and the US and is beneficial to the future cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides exchanged opinions on China-US relations and the major international and regional issues of common concern.
