Li Zhaoxing Holds Talks with His Cuban Counterpart Perez

On April 16, 2007, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his Cuban counterpart Felipe Perez Roque held talks in Beijing.

Li said recent years have witnessed all-round, rapid development of bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all areas thanks to the joint efforts of both sides. Li told Perez China attaches great importance to its relations with Cuba and is ready to work with Cuban to deepen the friendship, promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and push for the continued, in-depth growth of bilateral ties.

Perez said it is of strategic significance to strengthen Cuban-China relations. Cuba is ready to further exchanges and dialogue and expand cooperation in various fields, so as to enhance bilateral ties, he said.

The two sides also exchanged views on some international and regional issues of common concern. Following the talks, both sides signed a cooperation agreement between the two Foreign Ministries.
