On April 18, 2012, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi met with charge d'affaires ad interim of South Sudanese embassy in China Valentino, who came to China to establish the South Sudanese embassy in China. Yang accepted the letter of introduction for charge d'affaires ad interim.

Yang welcomed the team of embassy establishment led by Valentino and hailed the great importance attached by South Sudan to developing relations with China. He said that the Chinese foreign ministry will provide assistance and convenience for the work of the South Sudanese embassy in China.

Valentino thanked the Chinese foreign ministry and the related agencies for providing strong support for South Sudan to open an embassy in China. He said the South Sudanese Embassy in China will be committed to promoting the relations between South Sudan and China and deepening bilateral cooperation in various fields when the embassy opens.
