Dear Mr. Abbas Gullet, Secretary General of the Kenya Red Cross Society
Dear Mr. Han Jun, Chairman the Chinese Association in Kenya, Dear fiends from the media houses:
It is my great honor to hand over this 30,000 (Thirty Thousand) USD cash donation by the Chinese Community in Kenya to the Red Cross Society of Kenya.
As we all know, during the past week, people has undergone a very hard time across this country causing loss of lives, destruction of property and displacement of a large number of families. Kenya is a close friend of China. We, the Chinese nationals resident in this beloved country as well as the Chinese people at home, are highly concerned about this situation. We share with our brothers and sisters in Kenya their pain and sadness, their hope and aspiration for peace.
The Chinese have a saying that "the peace is the most precious". We hope this stalemate could be resolved in a peaceful, constructive and positive manner, peace and order be restored as soon as possible, and this great nation and people be brought together once again to live in harmony.
Personally, I view this ongoing election aftermath as only a test to the Kenyan people's determination to protect the development and prosperity of their own motherland and a small zigzag in the long river of the Kenyan history which is bound to flow into the sea of hope, peace and prosperity. I am confident that the Kenyan people are mature, capable and determined enough to get out of this aftermath and push the country forward again.
There is a saying that "a friend in need is a friend indeed". The Chinese people and the Kenyan people had enjoyed a deep friendship which stands the test of a history more than 600 years. The Chinese communities in Kenya have all along received goodwill and assistances from the Kenyan people in this beautiful country. Therefore, during this difficult time, the Chinese companies and citizens in Kenya felt that it is their obligation to initiate this fundraising campaign so as to reciprocate their Kenyan brothers and sisters in need. Through this donation, the Chinese people convey a clear message that they are determined and ready to stay along side with their Kenyan brothers and sisters to sail through any tough time.
I would like to comment the Kenya Red Cross Society for your great contribution to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected people. Your ceaseless effort is highly appreciated.
Finally, I want to say that Kenyan people is a people of peace, civility and optimism, and I want to let you know that Kenya is well-known in China for its HAKUNA MATATA KENYA. We love this country and its people and we also love the expression HAKUNA MATATA KENYA, which is a message of hope. May I ask you all to say loudly with me: HAKUNA MATATA KENYA!
