Nairobi, January 5, 2008. The Chinese Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Zhang Ming has today handed over 30,000 (Thirty Thousand) US dollar cash donation raised by the Chinese Community in Kenya to Mr. Abbas Gullet, Secretary General of the Red Cross Society of Kenya. This donation will be used to provide humanitarian assistances to the victims who were affected or displaced by the post election chaos and violence.

In his remark, Ambassador Zhang Ming pointed out that though not a very big amount, this donation conveyed a clear message that the Chinese Community in Kenya was determined and ready to stand along side with the Kenyan people through the tough time.

On behalf of the Kenya Red Cross Society and the affected or displaced people, Secretary General Abbas Gullet expressed their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Chinese Community in Kenya.
