On May 19, 2008, Embassy of China in South Africa hosts a ceremony to mourn tens of thousands of people killed in an earthquake, which hit the nation's southwest on May 12. China's national flag flies at half mast and Ambassador Zhong Jianhua, together with other staff of the Embassy of China in South Africa observe three minutes silence at 8:28am (Beijing time 14:28pm).
