On June 5, 2009, President of Chad Idriss Deby met in the presidential residence with visiting Ambassador Liu Guijin, special representative of the Chinese government on African affairs.

Deby made positive remarks on Chad-China relations and expressed satisfaction with the current development of bilateral friendly cooperation. Deby also thanked the Chinese side for its recent humanitarian material assistance to Chad.

Liu said that the bilateral relations have developed rapidly and cooperation in various fields achieved fruitful results since China and Chad resumed diplomatic ties, especially after the successful visit of President Deby to China in September 2007. China is willing to make joint efforts with Chad to raise the friendly cooperation to new levels.

Liu noted that the Chinese government has decided to provide the government of Chad with humanitarian material assistance worth RMB4 million in order to support the settlement of refugees and the displaced in the eastern part of Chad.

Both sides also exchanged opinions on the Darfur issue in Sudan and the relations between Chad and Sudan.

On June 4, Liu met with Chad's Foreign Minister Musa Faki, and both sides exchanged in-depth views on the bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.
