Ambassador Yang Youming Paying Courtesy Call On Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago

H. E. Mr. Yang Youming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, paid his courtesy call on the Honourable Mr. Patrick Manning, the Prime Minister on Nov. 17, 2009.
Ambassador Yang conveyed warm greetings from H.E. Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, to Prime Minister Manning, and congratulated Trinidad and Tobago, an important country in the Caribbean region, for its remarkable achievement in political, economic and social development. China and Trinidad and Tobago enjoy friendly cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, culture, education, and science and technology, and maintain good coordination on international and regional affairs. China wishes to further strengthen and expand the friendly cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago in every field on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. Ambassador Yang highly appreciated the government of Trinidad and Tobago for its firm stand on One China policy and the continuous efforts in developing bilateral relations between the two countries. Ambassador Yang said he is greatly honoured to start his tenure as Chinese ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago in the year marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries. He will do his utmost to strengthen the bilateral relations and he is sure he will get assistance and support from the government of Trinidad and Tobago. Prime Minister Manning expressed his sincere thanks to H.E. Mr. Wen Jiabao for the greetings and asked Ambassador Yang to convey his warm greetings. He agreed with Ambassador Yang that China and Trinidad and Tobago enjoy excellent relations, and reiterated that Trinidad and Tobago will continue to abide by One China policy. He said he always cherishes the beautiful memories of his visit to China in 1970s, and is looking forward to visiting China again.
