On Jan. 31, 2010, H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, and his wife Mrs.Geng Hailing attended the Spring Festival party held by Toy Shan Association of Trinidad and Tobago in celebration of the coming of the Year of Tiger. The party was hosted by President of the Association Mrs. Jean Wong and over 200 guests from the Association and their friends and families were present.

Ambassador Yang offered his New Year greetings and best wishes to the guests at the party. He said in 2009 China celebrated its 60th anniversary with great achievement in the economic development and a high GDP growth rate of over 8%. China became the second largest economy and the largest exporter in the world. 2009 also saw steady development of friendly relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago with increased exchange and cooperation in every field.

Ambassador Yang appreciated and thanked the local Chinese community for their efforts in promoting the local social development, carrying forward Chinese culture and deepening friendship between China and Trinidad and Tobago and encouraged them to continue to play a positive role in the social development in Trinidad and Tobaga and promotion of friendship between the two peoples.

Mrs. Jean Wong greeted the guests with festive greetings. She thanked the members present for taking active part in the Association's activities in the past year, thanked the Embassy for its continued support to the local Chinese community, and said that the Association would continue to make more contribution to the promotion of China and Trinidad and Tobago friendship.
