Consul General Gao Yanping Meets with Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco

On March 5, Consul General Gao Yanping met with Mr. Jeff Leung, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, San Francisco in Dallas. Consul Chu Kaimin was present.
Mr. Leung gave a brief introduction about the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco. He said, thanks to the stable and rapid economic development of the mainland China, Hong Kong economy performed moderately well last year with the unemployment rate efficiently under control against the backdrop of the global financial crisis. Big projects linking the mainland and Hong Kong have created great opportunities to the sustainable development of Hong Kong and bringing tangible benefits for Hong Kong people. As Head of the Economic and Trade Office of Hong Kong SAR in the western United States, he hopes to strengthen the communication and cooperation with the Chinese Consulate General, jointly promoting China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation.
Consul General Gao said, she was delighted and proud of the achievements made by Hong Kong SAR. The facts have eloquently proved that, after returning to its motherland, Hong Kong has become more prosperous and Hong Kong people are happier than ever before. Currently, the Chinese economy and society are developing comprehensively and harmoniously. The ongoing transformation of the economic growth pattern and the economic structure adjustment are conducive to China's quality-and-efficiency oriented economy. China undoubtedly has a brighter future. As an overseas mission of the Chinese Government, the Chinese Consulate General will faithfully and comprehensively carry out its diplomatic and consular functions, further boosting China-U.S. exchanges and cooperation, ensuring the consular protection and assistance for the Chinese citizens including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The Chinese Consulate General will work with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices for consolidating China-U.S. friendship and upgrading bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level.
