On March 15, Ambassador He Yafei met with Rob Steele, the Secretary General of International Organization (ISO) for Standardization.

Ambassador He spoke highly of the important role played by ISO in setting international standards, pushing forward industrial development and enhancing international cooperation. He said the current world is confronting severe challenges in the areas of climate change, food security, natural disaster, environmental protection and etc. It is of vital significance of setting relevant international standards in addressing global challenges and securing healthy development of globalization. He also said China would like to strengthen the cooperation with ISO and make concerted efforts to drive the work of international standardization forward.

Mr. Steele said that as the founding member of the organization and the permanent member of ISO governing council, China has made remarkable contribution in pushing forward the work of international standardization. ISO is now committed itself to address global problems by setting standards in the areas of bussiness, environment, science and technology etc. ISO will enhance its ties with China and promote the mutual cooperation to a new height.
