On May 11, 2010, Consul General Gao Yanping met with Ms. Angie Chen Button, Texas State Representative at the office building of the Chinese Consulate General in Houston. Commercial Councellor Yao Wenliang, Consul Wang Peijun, Consul Li Zhuang of the Chinese Consulate General and Mr. Larry Jeffus, City Council Member of Garland, Mr. Paul Mayer, CEO of Garland Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Edward J. White, Vice President of General Dynamics were present.

Consul General Gao said, the exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States in all fields bring tangible benefits for the two peoples. China-Texas relations enjoy an excellent development momentum. The two sides have broad prospects of cooperation. Consul General Gao briefed with Representative Chen that Governor Perry and her co-hosted a reception celebrating World Expo 2010 Shanghai and China-Texas friendly relations recently at the office building of the Chinese Consulate General in Houston. Many people from all works of life in Texas expressed their sincere wishes to a better China-Texas relations and mutual beneficial cooperation. Consul General Gao believes that led by Governor Perry, the Texas delegation's visit to China and attendance of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo in June will further promote the friendly relations between China and Texas.

Representative Chen said, Texas values the friendly relations with China. She will accompany Governor Perry to visit China and attend the Shanghai World Expo. The delegation also consists of many leaders from Texas commercial area and big companies, who are eager to find business opportunities and cooperation partners in China. Mr. Jeffus and Mr. Mayer said, the City of Garland benefited from the development of China-U.S. relations and hopes to strengthen the pragmatic cooperation between China and Garland. Mr. White said, General Dynamics is currently searching for cooperation partners in China.

Consul General Gao also exchanged her views with the guests on issues of common interest.
