Consul General Gao Yanping Meets with Texas Governor Rick Perry

On May 25, 2010, Consul General Gao Yanping met with Texas Governor Rick Perry at the office building of the Chinese Consulate General in Houston. Consul Wang Peijun and Vice Consul Wang Rui of the Consulate General and Mr. Roberto DeHoyos, Director of Texas Business Development and International Affairs for the Governor's Office were present.

Consul General Gao welcomed Governor Perry to visit the Consulate General again. She briefed Governor Perry on the relevant arrangements Chinese side has made for the Texas Delegation's visit and wished Governor Perry a successful and fruitful first visit to China.

Consul General Gao said, the Second Round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue concluded today in Beijing has great significance to the sound and stable development of China-U.S. relations as well as mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation. China enjoys a stable and relatively fast economic growth with huge market and plenty of business opportunities. It is the best time for all countries including the United States to develop better relations with China. The on-going World Expo in Shanghai provides a great platform for peoples from all around the world to carry out exchanges and cooperation. She expressed her best wishes to a complete success of the "Texas Week" event in the Shanghai World Expo Garden. It is believed that Governor Perry's visit to China will further promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and the U.S. in all fields and bring tangible benefits to the two peoples.

Governor Perry said, as the 11th biggest economic entity in the world, the further promotion of exchanges and cooperation between Texas and China will boost the economic development of Texas, create more jobs for the Texans and provide more business opportunities for Texas business circles. He's looking forward to meeting with the Chinese leaders, officials, entrepreneurs and celebrities from all walks of life in China and discussing how to further expand and deepen China-Texas exchanges and cooperation. Governor Perry wished the "Invest in Texas Forum" to be held in the Shanghai World Expo Garden successful. He hoped his visit to China will further strengthen the mutual understanding, learning from each other and cooperation between the two peoples as well as Texas and China.

Consul General Gao also exchanged views with Governor Perry on issues of common interest.
