Consul General Gao Yanping Meets with Mayor of the City of Houston

On June 15th, Consul General Gao Yanping met with Annise Parker, Mayor of the City of Houston in the City Hall. Consul Wang Peijun and Chief of Staff of the Mayor's office Waynette Chan were present. Mayor Parker said, as the fourth largest city in the United States, the City of Houston attaches great importance to the development of friendly cooperation with China. She will lead a Houston delegation to visit China and attend the Shanghai World Expo between late July and early August. It is highly expected that her trip to China can deepen the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides and create more trade, investment and job opportunities for the people of Houston through extensive contacts with the Chinese business circle. Consul General Gao briefed Mayor Parker on the newest developments of the China-U.S. relations and about the Shanghai World Expo. She wishes Mayor Parker a fruitful trip to China and a successful participation in the Shanghai World Expo. Consul General Gao said, Chinese side values the friendship with the people of Houston and is ready to develop mutual beneficial and win-win cooperation with Houston. She hopes that Mayor Parker and the City Government can create a favorable environment to facilitate the cooperation between China and Houston in all fields, thus bringing tangible benefit to the two peoples.
