Consul General Gao Yanping Meets with Former Secretary of State James A. Baker III

On June 16th, Consul General Gao Yanping met with Mr. James A. Baker III, former Secretary of the Treasury and former Secretary of State of the United States at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy.

Consul General Gao briefed Secretary Baker about the Second Round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue and the latest developments of China-U.S. relations. She said that a sound and stable China-U.S. relationship is not only in the long-term interests of the two countries and peoples, but also conducive to world peace, stability and prosperity. Consul General Gao hoped Secretary Baker can continue playing a positive role in promoting China-U.S. relations.

Secretary Baker delightedly shared his sweet memories about his friendship with the three-Generation Leaders of China and the Chinese people. He said, he completely agrees with Consul General Gao's view on the importance of China-U.S. relations. The common interests between the two countries far outweigh the differences. A good China-U.S. relationship is of great significance to the two countries as well as to the world, which is worthy of joint efforts by both sides. He firmly supports the development of China-U.S. relations and is ready to continue furthering the development of China-U.S. relations.

Consul General Gao also exchanged views with Secretary Baker on many issues of common interest.
