H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, attended the opening ceremony of the 12th Trade and Investment Convention in Port of Spain and toured the China Pavilion on June 15th, 2011.
The Convention is an annual event co-sponsored by the Ministry of Trade and T&T Manufacture's Association, and is aimed at providing a platform of business transactions and investment cooperation for buyers and suppliers around the world. With the participation of enterprises from over 40 countries, including China, Brazil, UK, USA as well as Latin American countries, this year's convention is said to be the largest in its history. The Honorable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, attended the ceremony and made the opening remarks. She indicated that the success of the Trade and Investment Convention has showed the important postion of Trinidad and Tobago in the global business and investment. She talked about the Convention as a fantastic example of partnership and hoped it would attract new direct foreign investment to the country as a result.
The China Pavilion is organized by China Machinery and Engineering Cooperation, with a 29 member delegation from Jiangsu, Jilin and other provinces. Exhibits in the Pavillion include machinery, electronics, transportation items, metal fittings and construction materials.
