Ambassador Gao Yanping Visits Tel Aviv University

On 16th November, Ambassador Gao Yanping visited Tel Aviv University (TAU) at the invitation of Professor Joseph Klafter, President of TAU Mr. Xue Hualing, Head of the Education Department of the Chinese Embassy, Professor Aron Shai, Rector of TAU, and Professor Meir Shahar, Head of the Confucius Institute at TAU, were present.

Professor Klafter said, as a leading institution of universities in Israel, TAU attached great importance to international development. He had a strong interest in the research and teaching cooperation between Chinese and Israeli universities, hoping that more Chinese students would study in TAU. Professor Klafter said he would lead a delegation of TAU to visit China in May 2012.

Ambassador Gao said the Chinese government paid great attention to training high-level scientific and technical personnel and focused on enhancing the cooperation and exchanges with foreign universities in the fields of education and high technology. She spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Israeli universities, welcoming more Israeli experts and professors to visit China.

Ambassador Gao also visited the Advanced Bio-Medical Technologies and Methods Laboratory, Department of East Asian Studies and the Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies. After hearing briefing on the Confucius Institute at TAU, Ambassador Gao said that the Confucius Institute was a bridge to connect the Chinese people with people around the world and a platform to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries. She expressed her good wishes for the healthy development of the Confucius Institute under meticulous care from Chinese and Israeli partners.
