Ambassador Chen Yuming met Senator Nick Sherry

On 24 Nov, Ambassador Chen Yuming met in Canberra Senator the Hon Nick Sherry, Minister Assisting on Deregulation and Public Sector Superannuation, Minister for Small Business and Minister Assisting the Minister for Tourism. They had a friendly discussion on relations and cooperation between China and Australia.
Ambassador Chen said that China and Australia established diplomatic relations nearly forty years ago, and the Chinese side appreciated Australia's commitment to bilateral relations and the positive efforts it has made. China stands to ready to work with Australia and take the celebration of 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to expand exchanges, increase mutual trust, deepen cooperation and facilitate long term steady and sustainable development of bilateral relations. This serves the common interest of both countries and their peoples.
Ambassador reiterated China's firm commitment to the road of peaceful development. He said China remains committed to developing friendly and cooperative relations with other countries to jointly maintain and promote peace, stability and development in the region. China's development will not hamper other countries. And China does not want external interference in its peaceful development. When the international economic situation is gloomy, it is more important for countries to strengthen cooperation, jointly pursue development and make contribution to stability and recovery of the global economic and financial situation.
Senator Sherry appreciates China's commitment to peaceful development and expressed confidence in future growth of China-Australia relation. He said Australia is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in multiple areas.
