Ambassador Yang Youming and his wife hosted Spring Festival celebrations in Tobago

On Jan. 24, 2012, the second day of the Year of the Dragon, H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, and his wife Mrs. Geng Hailing, hosted the Spring Festival Reception at Fortune Restaurant in Tobago. Present at the reception were the Hon. Orville D. London, Chief Secretary of Tobago House of Assembly (THA), other secretaries of the THA, representatives of local Chinese community and Chinese companies based in Tobago, and other celebrities of Tobago. Ambassador Yang and the Hon. Mr. London made their remarks, conveying their best wishes for the new year to the guests.
Ambassador Yang said that China had made great archievements for economic and social development in 2011, and the bilateral relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago enjoyed steady development. The Chinese Embassy tried wherever it could to bring events to Tobago. The medical team of Chinese Navy hospital ship "Peace Ark", while visiting the twin-island country, came to Tobago, offering medical service to the local people. The Dragon Boat Association held its first Tobago race, and the photo exhibition "T&T Through Chinese Eyes" was held at this very restaurant. All the above events were warmly received by the people of Tobago. The Hon. Mr. London held a cordial meeting with General Ma Xiaotian, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese Army, on his visit to Tobago. Ambassador Yang thanked the Hon. Mr. London and the Tobago House of Assembly for their always ready support for all the events, and to the Chinese Embassy.
The Hon. Orville London highly spoke of the important contribution of the Chinese community and Chinese companies for the development of Tobago, and expressed his great appreciation for the China Railway Construction Corporation for its outstanding work for the Scarborough General Hospital. He conveyed his special thanks to the Chinese Embassy for sharing the Chinese traditional Spring Festival with the people of Tobago every year. He said that people in Tobago always held the friendly feelings towards the Chinese people, and the THA would look forward to further strengthening the cooperation with China in various fields in the new year. He wished a bright future for the relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago.
On the next day or Jan. 25, Ambassador Yang and his wife Mrs. Geng, together with the Hon. Chief Secretary Orville London, attended an impressive evening of performances presented by Chongqing Arts Troupe in Tobago.
