On Jan 29, 2012, Sun Wai Association of Trinidad and Tobago hosted a Spring Festival Luncheon in celebration of the Year of the Dragon, with guests of prominent members of the local Chinese community, members of the Association and their friends and families present. H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, and his wife Mrs. Geng Hailing, along with diplomats of the Chinese Embassy attended.

Ambassador Yang made brief remarks, conveying his best wishes for a happy new year of the dragon to the guests. He said that in the past year, the Chinese Embassy had interacted well with the Chinese community, getting strong support from the community for the promotion of Chinese traditional culture, the bilateral relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as for the development in China. Ambassador Yang took the opportunity to express his sincere thanks. He said that there would be more friendly exchanges between the two countries in the new year and he was sure that the Chinese community would continue to make new contributions.

Mr. Michael Lee Kim, President of Sun Wai Association, welcomed the guests to the luncheon. He said that the Year of the Dragon had special meaning to all Chinese people, and he wished everyone a prosperous new year.
