Ambassador Gao Yanping Meets with Stanley Fischer, Governor of the Bank of Israel

On 8th February, Ambassador Gao Yanping met in Jerusalem with Mr. Stanley Fischer, Governor of the Bank of Israel, Former Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank and Former Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. Counselor Dai Yuming among others was present.

Ambassador Gao said since the diplomatic relations established between China and Israel 20 years ago, the mutual understanding and trust has been increasing, the economic and trade developed very fast and the fruitful pragmatic co-operation in varied fields been achieved. As the world-famous economist and the Governor of the Bank of Israel, Mr. Fischer has exerted his positive influence on the mutual friendship between Israeli and Chinese people and the development of the two countries. It's believed that the future of bilateral relations would be brighter under the joint effort of the two governments and peoples. As the well-performing economies, China and Israel should contribute to the recovery of world economy and growth by strengthening the exchanges and co-operation in economic and financial fields. Governor Fischer said China has made tremendous achievements in economic and social development, especially keeping rapid growth year after year when faced with global financial crisis, in which way China contributed outstandingly to the world economy. Israeli government and central bank saw the importance of developing relations with China, and would like to strengthen the exchange and co-operation with China in financial and economic sectors. He planned to go to China in March to attend the Bo'ao Forum, in the hope to continue the dialogue with his counterparts in China then.

Ambassador Gao and Governor Fischer also exchanged views on the issues of mutual concern, i.e. world economy and European Debt Crisis.
