Reception for Chinese and Indian Artists Held at Chinese Consul General's Residence

On the evening of Feb. 13th, Mr. Zhang Lizhong, Chinese Consul General in Kolkata, invited some important figures from local art and education circle to his residence for the reception in honor of Chinese painter – Cai Liqun. About 20 guests including famous Indian painter – Mr. Sunil Das, ICCR Vice President – Mrs. Bharati Ray, Vice Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University – Prof. Chinmoy Guha, former officer-in-charge of Government College of Art & Craft – Mrs. Dipali Bhattachrya were present at the reception.

Mr. Cai Liqun has been engaged in Chinese painting for over 50 years and he is the originator of Chinese stippled vegetable-fruit painting. In the reception, he not only brought his selected paintings which attracted the attentions of the guests, but also painted on site and showed his unique Chinese painting skills.

Mr. Sunil Das was very much impressed by Mr. Cai's painting and also painted on site in return. Their unique painting skills won the praises and applauses from the guests.

The two painters exchanged their paintings as gift to each other.
