Zambian People Shares Chinese Disabled People's 'Dream'

In the Afternoon of Sunday 12th February, 1500 Zambia people have enjoyed the grand show of 'My Dream', performed by China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe in the new Conference hall of Government Complex.

'the purpose of inviting this art troupe is not only enhancing our cultural exchanges, but also sharing our experience and exploring cooperation in fields of works on people with disabilities. ', as H.E. Zhou Yuxiao, Chinese Ambassador said. He also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Community Development, Mother and Child Health, Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, works, Supply and Communication, and especially Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities (ZAPD) and Zambia Federation of disability organizations (ZAFOD) for co-sponsoring this function, which, as Amb. Zhou said, 'tells us loudly that our friendship and collaboration can make us richer and bring us a better future'.

Hon. Joseph Katema, Minister of Community Development, Mother and Child Health, Hon. Inonge Wina, Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs, and several Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers, Ambassadors, High Commissioners and representatives from the UN family graced the function. In his speech, Hon. Katema have highly commended the Chinese artists, who have traveled a long way from China to Zambia and brought the friendship and good will from the Chinese people, and whose achievements of life would be great inspiration for the disabled people in Zambia.

Perfomance

China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe, namely CDPPAT, was established In 1987 by 30 brave and talented disabled persons who loved arts. In 2000,CDPPAT created the large-scale Music & Dance MY Dream by the unique performing way and turned into a professional arts group from an amateur one in 2004. With the aspiration of being "Truth, Honesty and Virtue" and spirit of "Harmony and love",CDPPAT created a special style of art with unique art attraction and profound spiritual connotation. Today, they have been performing more than 150 shows over 10 countries each year and visited more than 60 countries in Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania. They bring audiences the joy of art, enlightenment of heart and interaction of emotion to the whole world, which go far beyond any barriers of language, culture or nationality.

Last November, during the visit by the First Republican President, H.E. Dr. Kenneth Kaunda to China, the art troupe had the privilege to perform in honor of H.E.Dr. Kaunda. Deeply moved by the fantastic show, H.E. Dr. Kaunda invited the art troupe to visit Zambia when he greeted the artists.

China has as many as 83 million disabled people, which accounts for 6.34% of the general population and constitute a big challenge to the country. Chinese government has always attached great attention to the works on people with disabilities. and taken every measure to ensure the social welfare and better development of persons with disabilities.
