On February 16, Consul General Xu Erwen attended the Sister City Agreement Signing Ceremony between the Chinese city of Wuxi and US city of San Antonio, which was held in San Antonio, Texas. Mayor Zhu Kejiang of Wuxi, Mayor Julián Castro of San Antonio, San Antonio Councilman Williams, Councilman Souls, Councilwoman Chan and more than 200 other guests were present.

Mayor Castro and Mayor Zhu, in their remarks, said that both cities value the newly-established Sister City relationship. The two cities, bearing similarity both in size and in concept of development, found a lot in common and are looking forward to expanding their cooperation in business development, culture, health care and tourism.

Consul General Xu Erwen congratulated Wuxi and San Antonio for becoming the 177th Sister City between China and the US. She said that city-to-city cooperation is an important part of China-US friendly ties, as is shown in Vice President Xi Jinping's visit to the US. The fact that the signing ceremony coincides with Vice President Xi's visit is a good start for future cooperation between the two cities. Consul General Xu encouraged the two cities to make full use of the Sister City platform, broaden and enrich their cooperation, thus make contribution to the growth of China-US partnership.
