Yang Guoqiang, Consul General of the P.R.C. in Chicago, underlined the great potential and cheered for the desirable prospect of the cooperation between China and the Midwest of the USA, in a speech delivered on Feb. 24 to more than 100 political and business leaders in Bedford, Indiana.
Consul General Yang, at the Foreign Investment Conference held by Lawrence County Economic Growth Council, briefed the audience on the latest situations of China's economy and trade. He said that the Sino-US trade and investment cooperation is witnessing unmatchable potential thanks to the commitments of the two governments to adjusting their economic structures respectively. Yang stressed that the Midwest states of the USA, Indiana among them, will play a greater and more active role in the Sino-US trade and investment cooperation, for they all boast abundant resources and mature industries.
Consul General Yang also cited President Hu Jintao's visit to Chicago last year and Vice-president Xi Jinping's visit to Iowa this month, which both considerably enhanced the popularity and attraction of the Midwest US among Chinese people, as new dynamics in promoting communication and cooperation between China and the Midwestern states of the USA. "New opportunities are lying ahead due to President Hu's visit to Chicago and Vice-President Xi's visit to Iowa," Yang concluded.
