International Women's Day Reception Held at Chinese Embassy

On March 8, the Chinese Embassy held a reception to celebrate International Women's Day. The Sierra Leonean First Lady H.E. Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma, Chief Justice Hon. Justice Umu Jalloh, Deputy Foreign Minister Hon. Mrs. Ebun Jusu and over 130 other guests including representatives of Sierra Leone's all walks of life, the diplomatic corps and the Chinese community, attended the reception.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Kuang Weilin's wife Madam Wuhua extended her festival congratulations to all the ladies present. She briefed the guests on the tremendous progress that China has made in promoting the cause of women, spoke highly of the exchanges and cooperation between the women of the two countries and renewed her commitment to further deepening the bilateral cooperation.

The First Lady said that much progress has been made in improving women's welfare in Sierra Leone but more needs to be done. She expressed her appreciation for the long-standing assistance and support that China has provided to Sierra Leone and looked forward to working more closely with the Chinese side to promote friendly exchanges between the women of the two countries.

At the reception, the Chinese ladies from the Embassy performed folk dances of different nationalities, and the Sierra Leonean popular singer Maria presented Chinese songs and traditional African dances.
