Chinese Ambassador Shen Zhifei Visits Split

Chinese Ambassador Shen Zhifei made a two-day visit to Split, the second largest city in Croatia from March 8th to 9th, 2012.

Ambassador Shen held a talk with Mr. Kerum, mayor of Split and jointly met the local media. Mr. kerum expressed to Ambassador Shen his personal view on the way-out to the economic crises that Croatia was now facing and hoped that Split and a Chinese city of the same category would establish a sister-city relationship with each other so as to promote concrete cooperation after mentioning the advantages Split had about geographical location, rich natural resources, preferential policies encouraging foreign investment and co-operations with foreign countries on culture, education, science and technology. Ambassador Shen appreciated Kerum's comment and expressed his confidence that the Croatian people would conquer the economic crises by their own efforts, and that focus should be laid on the further cooperation of trade and economy between China and Croatia thanks to the extremely good relations existed so as to benefit both peoples.

Ambassador Shen also made a visit to the Museum of the Hydrographic Institute of Croatia and was briefed by the Faculty of Chemistry and Technology about the S & T programs to be completed with the possible participation of Chinese scientists.

On the 9th, Ambassador Shen made a presentation of China's Strategy of Marine Exploitation to the local experts and scholars of marine economy at Croatian Institute of Scientific Arts and answered their questions. In addition, Ambassador Shen took an interview from a local television station.
