President of China- Latin America and Caribbean Friendship Association Cheng Siwei visits Trinidad and Tobago

From Mar. 6 to Mar. 9, 2012, Mr. Cheng Siwei, President of China- Latin America and Caribbean Friendship Association and former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, paid a friendship visit to Trinidad and Tobago. During his stay, Mr. Cheng Siwei met with the Honourable Wade Mark, Speaker of the House of Trinidad and Tobago and His Worship Louis Lee Sing, Mayor of Port of Spain, and attended the welcoming lunch hosted by the Mayor. Mr. Cheng briefed the hosts on the working of China's National People's Congress and the great achievements China had made in the social and economic fields. The two sides discussed issues relating to theories and practice on development and exchanged views on further strengthening the parliamentarian exchanges between China and Trinidad and Tobago and the cooperation between sister cities.
Mr. Cheng also held a discussion with members of T&T- China Frienship Association and leaders from Chinese community of Trinidad and Tobago. He thanked them for their efforts and contribution to the promotion of friendship between the two countries, and encouraged them to continue their work, to bring the Association into more active play and to make new contribution to the friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. H.E. Mr. Yang Youming, Chinese ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, was present at all the events.
