H.E. Ambassador Yang Houlan Attends 12th Annual General Meeting of NCCCI

On 25 March, 2012, Nepal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NCCCI) held its 12th Annual General Meeting in Kathmandu. H.E. Ambassador Yang Houlan, Honorble Minister for Finance Mr. Barsha Man Pun, Chairman of NCCCI Mr.Rajesh Kazi Shrestha attended the meeting and delivered speech.
Shrestha said since NCCCI established in 1999, it has actively promoted the economic and trade cooperation between Nepal and China. It helps the businessmen from two sides to contact and brings Nepal companies to attend the trade and industry affairs in China. Now it has 8 chapters in Nepal's different districts and signed agreement with 13 Chinese trade organizations. NCCCI is committed to continually advancing the economic and trade cooperation between Nepal and China, and hopes to gain the support from both governments. Yang highly appreciated NCCCI's long-time contribution to promote the mutually benefit cooperation between China and Nepal. Yang said that during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's official visit to Nepal in last January, Premier Wen said that the Government of China encouraged the strong and reputed companies to make investments in Nepal, and also supported Tibetan Autonomous Region to use its particular strengths in more exchanges and cooperation with Nepal. I am confident that our cooperation will move forward quickly. The Chinese Embassy in Nepal is willing and ready to work with NCCCI and push forward the development of our economic relations.
Pun said that as Nepal is nearly to conclude the peace process and constitutional writing, economic development is going to be the main task. Nepal should make use of its strength and develop the important big projects like West Seti Hydropower Project and Pokhara International Airport Project, to drive the growth of the national economy. He welcomed Chinese companies to invest Nepal's hydropower, tourism, agriculture and other sectors. He said that NCCCI has made much contribution to promote the trade and investment between the two countries. He hoped NCCCI will continue to serve as the bridge to enlarge the economic and trade cooperation between Nepal and China.
Yang also presented Chapter Certificate to the NCCCI chapters in Pokhara, Butwol, Chitwan, Kavre, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Bhaktapur and Biratnagar.
