'China is a major player for world peace and development. Further developing friendly relations with China is the common view across party lines in the Maltese Parliament', commented the Hon.Dr. Michael Frendo, Speaker of the House when he received a courtesy call by Chinese Ambassador Cai Jinbiao on 2nd April.

Marveled at the foresightedness and courage of China's fervent push for the reform and opening-up policy, Dr Frendo spoke highly of the profound achievements of China during past 30 years. He urged more attention be focused for the two countries' parliamentarians to tap the all time friendly Malta-China relations and reap more tangible benefit for the peoples.

While reviewing positively the 40 years' diplomatic relations between China and Malta, Ambassador Cai also briefed the Speaker on the just-concluded NPC and CPPCC meetings. He expressed his strong wishes to continue strengthening exchanges and communication between the legislative bodies of the two countries with a view to uplifting the friendly cooperative relations.
